Would You Work for You? is an all-purpose self-actualization manual that is meant for anyone who wants to be a successful leader of thousands or of one. It addresses employee motivation, hiring and firing, strategic planning, time management, team building, delegating, decisions making, and conflict resolution – just about anything a leader needs to know.
The principles are sound, time-tested practices and the many quotations from business and other leaders support the messages. What I like most about this book, is that it is interactive, which is how I wrote my own self-help book on happiness. Geist includes questions to answer and lists to check off – and he even includes a handy form for interviewing job applicants.
Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you are a boss or hope to be promoted to the role of boss, there is still hope for you. You can become a leader or be promoted to the role of leader instead. If you want to lead a project in school, church, community or wherever, this is your “how-to” manual. And if you simply want to be the leader of one, then this is not a bad self-actualization question. Isn't that what self-actualization is all about – looking yourself in the mirror?
